About the Faculty
Ishan Shah leads the Research and Content team at Quantra, where he specializes in statistical arbitrage and systematic trading. His prior experience includes working with Barclays in their Global Markets team and as a Senior Technology Associate at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Ishan has co-authored the Machine Learning for Trading book, further demonstrating his depth of knowledge in the field.
Academically, Ishan holds a PGDBM from Sydenham Institute of Management and a B.E. in Information Technology from D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering. Outside of work, he enjoys trekking, volleyball, and exploring technology topics.
Ishan’s ability to break down complex trading strategies into understandable concepts makes him a valuable mentor for learners looking to explore statistical arbitrage and quant investing.
EPAT Teaching
Ishan's sessions dive deep into quantitative trading strategies, focusing on practical learning with real-world data. You’ll explore key concepts like stationarity through analogies and learn the maths behind the ADF test.
The session covers coding, backtesting, and implementing strategies such as pairs trading and triplet trading. You'll also understand the difference between cointegration and correlation, along with risk management lessons with the help of case study.
Additionally, you'll develop a structured approach to creating trading strategies, including data gathering, defining entry and exit rules, accounting for transaction costs, and analyzing performance. You'll also learn ways to enhance strategy performance and create long-term quant investing strategies using metrics like beta and return on equity.
